Our Story

They will always leave with a Waggin' Tail!

Mel’s Waggin’ Tail Inn is a family-owned dog daycare and boarding facility. Opening its door in July 2010, to provide quality care, in a safe and comfortable environment, while having social time with other dogs.

The owner, Melissa, had a passion for dogs at a young age. Her family adopted their first family dog from the SPCA when she was 6 years old.

With a lot of persuasion, convincing and negotiation with her parents, she was able to adopt her own dog when she was only 17 years old. Meeko, a Samoyed mix, was the reason she got more education and experience with dogs. Like most rescues he came with a past. She had to help him through some unwanted behaviors by doing training and putting time and dedication. He was a faithful companion for 13 years.

She has since owned and trained several dogs of her own (picture above).

Melissa has owned multiple dogs during her life, she currently has 3 family pets.

  • Sandy found a forever home in the pack after fostering her and her 10 babies from the Moncton SPCA in November 2010. You will see her greeting clients in the lobby or playing outside with all the guests!
  • Primm, Newest addition, a cute little Brittany puppy joined the family In October 2022. She will hopefully walk in Sandy's footsteps and help greet clients in the lobby.
  • Haylee, a small (6 lbs) 14 years old (as of March 2022) Yorkshire Terrier.

A nice picture of the Inn's staff taken outside the kennel on a beautiful day

My two Goldens stayed with Mel for 5 days recently and I was very happy with the care they received. This was the first time they had stayed in a kennel was definitely a positive experience, great knowing I have a place for them to stay when I am unable to take them with me.
